Training Workshop: Interdisciplinary Cultural Projects and Focus Group with Stakeholders – Mindelo, Cabo Verde

The Cultivar project team set out on a journey, guided by the Atlantic winds to Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, in Cabo Verde. There, in a space shaped by knowledge and encounters, the activities take form at the Faculty of Education and Sport (FaED) of the University of Cabo Verde.

On the first day, discussions focused on Living Landscapes, understood as expressions of the ongoing relationship between communities and territory. Cultural landscape is thus conceived as a space in which human values are materialised, recognised as heritage when it reflects enduring interactions between society and the environment. Far from being confined to the monumental, its value is also found in the everyday, the identitarian and the functional.

Throughout the journey, the cultural landscape of the islands gradually reveals itself as a living fabric of meanings, encompassing the many facets of Cape Verdean identity: from tourism that reshapes horizons to local products that preserve knowledge, and cultural heritage that anchors memory and inspires possible futures.
