Training Workshop: Interdisciplinary Cultural Projects and Focus Group with Stakeholders- São Tomé e Príncipe

From 16 to 20 February 2026, the activities of Working Package 4 (WP4) of the Cultivar Project move in São Tomé e Príncipe, hosted at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of São Tomé and Príncipe (FCT–USTP). The workshop marks an important step in the co-creation of integrated cultural initiatives rooted in the local territory.

The first day was dedicated to training sessions delivered by the European partners — UEVORA, UNISS and UNIMED — addressing European policies and global agendas related to cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, food systems, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), landscapes, funding opportunities and principles of project design and management. These contributions provide a strategic framework linking regional and international perspectives to local action in both São Tomé e Príncipe and Cape Verde.

USTP professors and researchers are engaged in participatory activities, exploring territorial perceptions, revisiting the diagnostic analysis produced under WP2 and developing the concept of “Living Landscapes” as a shared vision for cultural and territorial development. Through collective reflection, storytelling and exchange of best practices, participants identify priorities, challenges and opportunities for future cultural project development.

Stakeholders are invited to join the discussion on the occasion of a focus group aiming at validating the proposed action plans and fostering the collaboration between academia and local actors, supporting the design of cultural projects with territorial, social and symbolic impact.
