The Jean Piaget University of Cape Verde, established by the Piaget Institute, educates approximately 1500 students in 17 courses, including nine master’s programs and a doctoral program in development and global sustainability. With about 250 faculty members, UniPiaget is a leading institution in Cabo Verde, recognized for its commitment to student education and human resource development. The Jean Piaget University cooperates with several NGOs in the field of culture, environmental protection, environmental education, and environmental health.
UniPiaget, organized into four units, emphasizes internationalization through the Centre for Research, Institutional Relations, and Advanced Training (CIRIFA).
UniPiaget houses research centers like the Innovation and Sustainability Centre (CIS) and the Research Group on Tropical Diseases (GIDTPiaget). Achievements include the recent creation of the Language Centre in 2022 and obtaining the Readership in Spanish in 2023, enhancing language learning for internationalization.
Pioneering distance learning for a decade, UniPiaget operates the Distance Education Laboratory, primarily supporting postgraduate programs. For communication, the university has the Communication and Image Office, equipped with radio and television studios.
