CULTIVAR lands at the II National Meeting of Heritage Students

On 3rd October, Cultivar Project members presented the paper ‘Research and Participation: the journey of two students in the Cultivar Project’ at the II National Meeting of Heritage Students (ENEP). This year, the itinerant event was hosted by the University of Porto.

The ENEP was founded in Évora by four students enrolled in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Cultural Heritage at the University of Évora. It is an event that brings together all levels of heritage studies to exchange experiences and is created by students for students.

The presentation formed part of the ‘Democratisation of Heritage – Experience Report’ thematic area and recounted the experiences of scholarship holder Keitty de Oliveira Silva and final-year student Maria Dulcelina Tavares da Paz. They both work on the project, contributing to the production of materials and reflections that relate to their careers, master’s research, and the practices developed within the scope of Cultivar.

The involvement of early-career students has proven fundamental to strengthening the technical, scientific, and ethical dimensions of the project. In addition to promoting new perspectives, this participation ensures the continuity and vitality of ongoing actions.

By integrating teaching, research, and outreach, the Cultivar Project promotes the democratisation of knowledge and encourages professional practices committed to social transformation. The collaborative research environment provides students with a more comprehensive education based on principles of equity, social justice, and environmental sustainability.

Thus, Cultivar reaffirms its commitment to educational processes that foster student leadership and have a positive impact on the academic and professional development of its participants.
